For about a month now I have been training for the MS 150 which is a 150 mile bike ride over 2 days. The ride is in San Antonio and my dad and I have been riding it together for about 6 years now-hard to imagine it's been that long! It usually goes from San Antonio to Corpus Christi and is usually a pretty great ride. My dad and I speed past everyone on the hills the first day and break our arms patting ourselves on the back after the first day always convinced we have done it so much faster than the year before. Then on the second day we get into a pace line and clip along at 19-20 miles per hour and think we are professional cyclists and are soo cool! Then we get to Corpus and sit under the palm trees, drink beer and cheer for the rest of the cyclists finishing up. All in all its a good time. This year though they changed the route-DUM DUM DUM (said dramatically). They changed it to an out and back ride, starting in San Antonio with New Braunfels as the half way point then back in to San Antonio. So we shall see. We are not very happy about the route change. But anyway, this post was supposed to be about my bike ride. i went on today. I went for a ride today as I usually do on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Tim is nice enough to occupy the kids while I feel the wind in my helmet. Today I got in 15.5 miles in 1 hour- not too shabby, I'm getting better! Today I went on my hilly route out to the country and back. One thing I love about this ride is at one point I am down in my aerobars flying down this hill at 35 miles an hour. The wind is howling in my ears and I am in my zone. Then the downhill turns to an up hill and in a split second I slow down to about 15 miles per hour the wind stops, I am under a canopy of beautiful green trees and there is silence. It brings it all into prospective. This is why I love to ride. Life is good.
